Legacy the School of Sports Sciences' innovative, rigorous curriculum is specifically designed to meet the needs of its diverse student population.
Athletics play a central instructional role in the life of our students. Through an integrated athletic education, athletics is infused into Legacy's core curriculum as a model of learning and deepening understanding. Students engage in the professions of athletics on creative, integrated, exploratory, and advocacy experience levels — in addition to participating competitively.
The Legacy academic program uses inquiry-based learning, collaborative problem solving, and an interdisciplinary curriculum to prepare our students to meet and exceed the challenges of a changing global society.
Learning Through Real-World Projects
Consider Tom, a 9th grade baseball player who chose athletic administration as his career path. His "Plan A" is a Division I scholarship; his "Other Plan A" is to earn a degree and become an athletic director — both are feasible plans Legacy will prepare him to pursue.
One of his first projects: managing the concessions stand at a basketball game. He uses Algebra I, Business I, and English I to handle cash drawer sales, create marketing promotions, open and close operations, calculate sales, and analyze profits and losses.
Tom won't simply memorize exponential functions. He'll use them — internalizing concepts deeply, ensuring rigorous academic achievement and real understanding.

Middle School (Grades 6–8)
A Powerful Combination. Legacy Middle School students work toward declaring a career path by mastering rigorous academic material in a way that helps them develop the executive functioning skills needed for success in college and a career in an athletic-related field.
Our approach includes comprehensive field lessons that encourage students to develop their own problem-solving strategies, work cooperatively, and think creatively.
Personal Attention & Connections. Our faculty is skilled in connecting with students. They will know your child, and they help him/her thrive. During your child's time at Legacy, s/he will make true personal connections with other students and faculty members that will last a lifetime.
High School (Grades 9–12)
Learning in Motion. Today, students need to do more than pass the test and get the grades. They need educational experiences that lead to deep understanding. Truly transformational education — the kind Legacy aims to provide — must be lived.
Preparation for the Future. We don't know what the future holds. What we do know is that by helping students learn how to work with others, learn how to learn, learn how to apply and create knowledge, and learn how to problem-solve, we give them a solid and dynamic foundation for whatever career comes their way.
A great advantage of being a 6-12 program is the ability to map curriculum across grade levels, making seamless transitions between grades and ensuring students acquire the skills needed to keep growing academically and emotionally.
