Enrollment FAQ
No. Legacy is a tuition-free public charter school. There are no admissions requirements and no tuition costs.
Once one child has enrolled, wait-listed siblings receive priority and move up the wait-list automatically.
The application period typically opens in late fall and remains open until all seats are filled. Applications received during the application period are entered into the lottery if seats are oversubscribed.
Applications submitted after the designated application period are not entered into the lottery. They are added to the waitlist in the order they are received.
When more applications are received than seats available in a given grade level, a lottery is conducted. Each application is assigned a random number and ordered by that number. Offers are made starting with the lowest lottery number.
From a public or private school: Apply for the next grade level in normal progression (e.g., currently in 5th grade → apply for 6th).
Home-schooled students: Generally select the grade level based on the student's birth date. Birth date ranges:
- 6th grade: September 2, 2013 – September 1, 2014
- 7th grade: September 2, 2012 – September 1, 2013
- 8th grade: September 2, 2011 – September 1, 2012
Placing a student in a different grade is only allowed in special cases with school leadership approval. Call (713) 400-7848 to discuss.
Following the lottery and first round of offers, wait-listed applicants will receive notification of their wait-list number. For more information about understanding the waitlist, contact our school office.
